Hinayi

I recently began to collect and compile a list of CHamoru words found in historical documents that are related to genealogy. Some native words remain dormant or rarely heard of, while others the meaning seems to have changed. Some words are of Spanish origin and localized into the CHamoru language; such is part of the evolution of languages.

Hinayi (genealogy) was the word given to me during the 2022 CHamoru Genealogy Workshop sponsored by the Kumision. I will slowly but surely add the words to this Project and should automatically and collectely appear below as each word is added on a separate blog.
